A Sore Problem
The smallest, yet most nagging ailment that haunts us frequently is an infection of the throat. While it may not be a very threatening condition to face, it certainly is something that effects our functioning and impairs us greatly.
The most common causes of throat ailments are as follows:
DUST: Continued exposure to dust is often a cause for irritation in the throat and can lead to an infection. With prolonged irritation from dust particles, the throat tends to get affected easily. Avoid exposing yourself to very dusty conditions. If your throat is more sensitive and suffers infections quickly, you might want to consider using a mask while stepping into a dusty area. It is advisable to avoid places where any kind of construction or wood-work is being carried out.
COLD: The cold is another cause for the onset of throat infections. Changes in the climate, and especially the onset and end of winters are marked by increased incidences of throat infections. Make sure you are well insulated to handle both these conditions effectively.
SMOKING: Smoking is another factor that coupled with the above can increase the susceptibility of the throat to infections. While smoking should be avoided altogether, pay attention closely to the condition of your throat, and respond immediately if you feel that the throat is being affected in any way.
INTAKE: Consuming an excess of cold foods can also lead to throat infections. Some people have slightly more sensitive throats that are less tolerant to cold foods. Assess the condition of your throat before you give way to temptation and indulge yourself the next time.
The most harmless hindrances are often what lead to the greatest deal of discomfort. Never underestimate the damage that a slightly sore throat can do, or neglect it. While taking care to ensure that you escape throat problems may be easy, it will ensure that you are saved a great deal of pain.
