Uses and Health Benefits of Peppermint oil

Arthritis – Regular massaging of joints with pure peppermint oil endows with much relief in pain caused by diseases like arthritis and tendonitis. Massaging with light kneading techniques on affected joints also aids in relieving pain and irritation.

Nasal Congestion – Inhalation of steam containing few drops of peppermint oil clears the nasal passage for easier breathing. The usage of this essential oil in clearing coagulated nasal passage caused by common cold or sinusitis is one of the most effective natural home remedies.

Fever – Massaging lower portions of feet with few drops of peppermint oil assists in diminishing the elevated temperature of body.

Headache – Two or three drops of undiluted peppermint oil, when rubbed on temple, forehead and over sinuses provides immediate relief from headache.

Heartburn – It is advisable for persons experiencing frequent occurrence of heartburn to consume a cup of herbal tea with one drop of peppermint oil mixed in it. This should be consumed two to three times a day to strengthen digestive tract and relieve heartburn.

Sore Feet – Soaking feet in a bucket full of warm water with few drops of peppermint essential oil for duration of thirty minutes several times a day helps in relieving swelling, pain and itching.

Psychological Awareness – To enhance psychological awareness and attentiveness, an individual should place 2 drops of peppermint essential oil on tip of tongue and one drop of this oil should be rubbed under nose. Inhalation of peppermint essential oil prior to and during intense workouts helps in boosting mood and decrease exhaustion.

Skin Inflammation – Regular massage of skin surrounding inflamed portions with peppermint oil confines the spread of inflammation. Persons with known medical history of skin allergies should dilute this essential oil with pure vegetable oil.

Nausea – Massaging abdomen with few drops of peppermint essential oil results in attenuation of symptoms associated with nausea.

Hunger Control – Since ages, peppermint oil is widely used by health experts to treat certain eating disorders like overeating. Inhalation of pure peppermint oil results in reduced libido for food thus, prevents overeating.

Mouth Odor – One drop of peppermint oil placed on tip of tongue miraculously eradicates bad smell.

Poison – It is recommended for individuals suffering from poison ivy to drop few drops of peppermint essential oil on affected area to get rid of pain and spread of poison.
