Anal fissures are the ulcers or the cuts or cracks that happen on the anus. It occurs when hard and large stool passes through the anus. Anal fissures may often cause bleeding and itching in the area. Here are some home remedies for anal fissures.

Diet
Take foods that can improve the bowel movement. A diet rich in fibers will help you to avoid constipation. Include more vegetables and fruits like cabbage, Brussels sprout, carrot, asparagus and high fiber food like barn cereals, whole grains etc in your diet. Drink a lot of water to improve the bowel movement.
Avoid foods that increase the acidity of your stool like citrus fruits, soda beverages, wine etc. Also avoid caffeinated products as it promotes flatulence and also increases the sensitivity of the anal skin. Caffeinated products will also lower the anal sphincter pressure. Avoid foods having no fiber like ice cream, meat, cheese, processed food etc.
Anal Hygiene
The best way to avoid fissures is to keep the anal region neat and clean. After every bowel movement dry the anal area and put some baby powder to avoid moisture. Try to avoid scratching in the anal region as your sharp nails may worsen the situation. Also avoid the usage of rough toilet papers for cleaning and use baby tissue or medicated pads for cleaning the anus.
Topical Applications
Make a paste with clarified butter and turmeric powder and apply this paste over the fissures. This will avoid the infections and will also aids in healing the fissures. You can also keep tea bags dipped in cold water in the anal region and this will give you relief from itching and the burning sensation. You can also try cold aloe vera gel over the fissures. Infusions made out of witch hazel and chamomile can be used for cleaning the anus this will help the blood vessels to shrink and will also heal the fissures.
Sitz Bath
Fill your bath tub with warm water and sit in this tub for about 20 minutes. Repeat this for 2 or 3 times a day and this will comfort the torn tissues in the anal region and also helps to relax the internal sphincter muscles of the anus.
