Applying Foundation Correctly
Foundation is a blessing when applied correctly. The key to getting foundation right is with the use of the right strokes to ensure a clean, even finish. The process of applying foundation should be followed carefully and meticulously.
Start by applying moisturiser to the face. Using the smooth end of the sponge, get some foundation on the sponge. Apply it as dots, and then dab all over the face. The fingers can be used to apply the foundation as well. As foundation has the tendency to dry up fast, make sure you apply the dots to parts of the face and dab them in as you go along. Blend foundation upwards and outwards on the skin always. Make sure you have covered all areas of the face evenly. Tricky places like the jaw line, creases of the nose and the areas under the eyebrows should not be forgotten. To finish off, rtake some tissue and soak up any extras to give a non-oily finish.
Here are some little pointers to keep in mind while using foundation.
Make sure you use a cosmetic sponge to apply foundation. This helps manage the foundation better and also gives a smoother finish to the application. Use the sponge in long, sweeping motions to give cleaner lines and a less patchy look.
The best test to check for a mtaching shade of foundation is to try some on the jaw line. This will give you an idea of whether the colour matches the colour of your neck, the single most important deciding factor.
While using liquid foundation, put small dots of foundation on small areas of the face and then blend it in to give the best finish.
Powder foundation can be used the same way that you use compact powder.
This should get you to make your skin up just like a professional would. Become your own stylist in the confines of your dressing room.
