Avoiding Bad Hair and Skin Days
January 8, 2009
Here are ways that we often tend to make mistakes while taking care of our skin and hair. These are common problems we face, and ways we can overcome them.
We all have open pores and blackheads at some time. Oily skin and teenagers are especially prone to these problems. The main area of focus is the T zone. In an attempt at keeping these problems under control, we try and wash our face as much as we can.
This may be one good chance at keeping oil in check, but try to be careful since the face could get stripped of all oil entirely and get excessively dry. A good home cure is the use of curd mixed with some calamine lotion and fuller’s earth. This mixture, used a couple of times a week will give you a permanent cure well.
Avoid waxing the skin too much since it can cause oil glands beneath to get disturbed and can cause pimples. Use calamine on the skin after waxing to keep the skin calm and soothes after waxing.
Opt for permanent removal methods for facial hair. Threading hair on the face can cause upsets like irritation, rashes and pimples. The hair also tends to be more coarse and stands out more prominently once it grows back. Laser treatments are safe and hygienic ways to get rid of unwanted hair permanently.
It is impossible to protect the hair from climate and pollution all the time. Even the use of protective gear like scarves, caps and hats often prove insufficient. To add to its misery, we also abuse the hair by exposing it to chemicals and curlers and irons. Give back the hair nourishment in the form of vitamin A supplements. Use aloe, primrose oils and try giving your hair some deep conditioning at least once a week. This should help restore some balance.
Patchy skin is most often the product of tanning. Use a good sunscreen at least three to four times a day and protect the skin at all times. It may not be necessary for the skin to be affected only by harsh sunlight. Mild exposure during evenings and early in the mornings can also cause damage. Make sure you give yourself at least half an hour after applying sunscreen before you step out to ensure it works. Vitamin C and folic acid are natural elements that can also help improve the condition of your skin.
