October 26, 2009

Bach flower remedies was developed by Dr Edward Bach, a physician, homeopath, bacteriologists and researcher. According to Dr. Bach, the condition of our mind helps to determine the condition of our health.

To have a healthy body, we should have a healthy mind. The Bach flower remedy utilizes 38 flowers to improve the condition of our mind and body.

Bach flower essence

Bach flower therapy is a form of alternative therapy. It uses dilutions of flower essence to balance the emotional and physical state of a person. Each of the flower essences are used for treating specific ailments. In the Bach flower therapy, the flowers are divided into three main categories – twelve healers, seven helpers and second 19.

The healers include agrimony, clematis, centaury, chicory, cerato, gentian, mimulus, impatiens, vervain, rock rose, scleranthus and water violet.  The helpers are wild oat, gorse, oak, rock water, olive vine and heather. The second 19 flowers are aspen, beech, wild rose, cherry plum, chestnut bud, larch, crab apple, elm, holly , hornbeam , mustard, pine, honeysuckle, star of Bethlehem, walnut, sweet chestnut, red chestnut, white chestnut, and willow.

Bach flower remedies

The essences of these flowers are used primarily as remedies for several emotional problems. The Bach flower remedies are not used for treating physical illnesses directly. The therapy is centered on the principle that the physical illnesses are primarily rooted in psychological problems, such as stress, anxiety, insecurity, loneliness and fear.

Psychological problems tend to reduce the body’s immunity. Through the Bach flower remedies, the flower essences help to calm the mind and reduce emotional difficulties, thereby helping the body to heal naturally. It has been observed that if carefully selected, the Bach flower therapy can be effective in reducing illnesses.

Five flower remedy

Besides using each of the 38 flower essences individually, the five flower remedy, which is a combination of essences of five flowers, is extremely useful in overcoming stress and anxiety in most circumstances. The five flowers comprise of rock rose, impatiens, cherry plum, star of Bethlehem and clematis. Rock rose essence help to cure panic.

Impatiens helps to reduce irritation and impatience. Cherry plum essence helps to overcome fear of losing control over situation. Star of Bethlehem essence is needed for preventing shock. Clematis essence improves attention.
