Banana – The Wonder Fruit

Bananas have been a favourite fruit since ages. Bananas grow throughout the year and are available in almost every country. Its goodness and its easy availability make it loved all over.

The medicinal uses of banana are uncountable. To highlight few reasons as to why bananas must be consumed daily, here are a few important uses of banana.

Anaemia

Bananas are one of the richest sources of iron. Consumption of bananas daily helps in the production of haemoglobin in the blood and thus helps cure anaemia. Patients suffering from acute anaemia must consume at least three bananas a day.

Constipation

Bananas are a rich source of fibre. They help in restoring normal bowel action and help cure acute constipation without resorting to laxatives.

Depression

Bananas are the best natural cure to depression. It contains tryptophan which converts into serotonin. This protein helps improve one’s mood and helps relax during any depression.

Blood Pressure

Bananas are very rich in potassium, yet low in salt. This makes them a very effective cure for high blood pressure. It not only checks blood pressure but also reduces the risk of stroke.

Heart Burn

Bananas are natural antacids and give a soothing relief in case of acidity and heart burn. Try eating a banana daily if you suffer from acidity and you will feel the relief immediately.

Brain Power

The high potassium content of banana helps strengthen the brain cell and strengthens one’s ability to remember things. On an average a student must consume at least 2 bananas a day to improve his memory.

Ulcers

The soft texture and smoothness of banana makes it an ideal diet during intestinal disorders and ulcers. It antacid quality helps neutralize over-acidity and reduces irritation and burning by forming a protective coating on the lining of the stomach.

Smoking

People who are trying to quit smoking and are finding it difficult must have at least two bananas a day. Bananas are rich in Vitamin C, A and B16 and B12 as well as Potassium and Magnesium. These help the body to recover from the effect of nicotine withdrawal.

Temperature Control

Bananas are very effective in maintaining a cooling effect during high temperatures. It is an ideal diet during summers. It is very good from pregnant ladies as it is known to lower high temperature during pregnancy.

Other than these, bananas have several other health benefits like controlling stress, obesity, warts and nervous breakdowns.
