Birth Control Pills:Benefits More Than Contraception
June 18, 2009
Besides the primary task of preventing unintended pregnancy, birth control pills have several other health benefits.
Reduces cancer risk
Hormone based contraceptives, whether used as oral pills, implants, skin patches, vaginal rings or IUDs can help in reducing risk of endometrial and ovarian cancer. According to studies, using birth control pill for three to four years reduces the risk of developing ovarian cancer by fifty percent.
If a birth control is used for ten years, the chance of having ovarian cancer reduces by eighty percent. Consuming birth control pills for at least two years reduces the risk of endometrial cancer by forty percent. Chances of occurrence of endometrial cancer fall by sixty percent if birth control pills are used for over four years. Birth control pills could also prevent occurrence of certain types of ovarian cysts.
Osteoporosis
Contraceptives help to replenish the reduced level of estrogen, which is responsible for loss of bone mass during pre-menopause and menopause stage. Birth control can be a useful method of preventing osteoporosis.
Healthy mother
Intake of birth controls gives an opportunity to regain health before pregnancy. Healthy mothers can only give birth to healthy children. If you are suffering from diabetes, high blood pressure or low weight, before becoming pregnant, you should cure your ailments.
In addition, birth control is the only way of preventing unintended pregnancy at a young age. If women conceive at a very young age, the risk of preterm delivery and pre-eclampsia increases. Benign breast cysts could also be cured with birth pills.
Reduces menstrual bleeding
Certain birth control pills reduce menstrual bleeding. Some pills can cause only three to four menstrual cycles every year. Reduction in number of menstrual cycles is beneficial for women suffering from anemia. These birth control pills are also capable of reducing premenstrual syndromes, including bloating, cramps, migraines and mood swings.

As for me I don’t approve of pregnancy pills. They may do greater harm than help you. Try to avoid using much pregnancy pills. There are also other ways to prevent pregnancy.
