Bite Sized Diets

November 29, 2008

There has been an ongoing debate for the longest time now to try and ascertain which plays a more important role in aiding weight loss – exercise or the diet. While each plays its own role in helping, they both are the best mechanism in toning the body when used in the best form together. Here are simple tips at dieting and exercising to help lose weight.

Dieting alone does not, unfortunately, help the body burn calories. This must be combined with some form of exercise like working out, or even walking. Merely monitoring the foods that you eat is not sufficient to lose weight. There must be some method of stimulating the motabolism as well. Similarly, mere exercising is not sufficient unless you ensure that unnecessary calories are not piled on after working out.

Walking has been found to be the best way to burn calories, and also keep good health. Walking does not always mean form of exercise. It could be incorpoarted into the daily routine by walking to work or school. Walking around small sections of the neighbourhood is also another good way of giving the body good exercise.

Small servings of food can often be misleading and cause unnecessary over-eating. Small size packages of foods are generally laden with calories and cause us to eat more than we normally would otherwise. A better option is to take a little out of a larger package size instead.

Try and decrease the size of the plate you use. This will make the helping look larger, and also cause you to want to pile a smaller quantity on the plate. Add a variety of healthier food options while cooking. While shopping, look for smaller sizes of foods like oils, sugar and other forbidden foods and try and use them for as long as you can. Simple alterations in eating and shopping habits can help contribute to weight loss.
