Acne and pimples are also responsible for blemishes. People with oily skin are largely vulnerable to blemishes. The dual problems of oil and acne cause blemishes on oily skin. Blemishes might also indicate hormonal imbalance. Hormonal imbalance during adolescence, menstruation, pregnancy, peri-menopause and menopause are found to be responsible for causing blemishes. Deficiency of certain nutrients can also lead to discoloration of the skin. Sometimes blemishes may occur from mental stress.
