What we wear is chosen after deliberation on a number of issues and parameters. The occasion, the time, the season, our own body and the latest trends are all points to bear in mind when getting dressed.

The most important thing to bear in mind while selecting your clothes is your own body. Pay attention to the skin tone, your body structure and height.

Dressing for the broad body structure is interesting. Look at the tone of your skin and choose colours accordingly. Avoid wearing very light colours and chose darker shades of clothes. The most timeless colour is black and is a great gift for this body type. It helps shed a large amount of weight in its appearance. It can also be worn easily at any time of the day.

Another important aspect is the fabric of cloth that you choose. Look for synthetics and types that drape well over the body. Avoid cottons and stiff fabrics as far as possible since they have a tendency of following their own texture and add volume to the body. Fabrics that drape well give a slightly more contoured appearance.

While checking for prints, avoid very loud, large patterns. A complete reject should be horizontal stripes, which only give an illusion of expansion and will add volume to your look. Try and look for vertical lines instead, which will add length and detract from the width of the body.

Look for lengths that will match your height well. Those who are short should avoid very long tops or skirts since that gives a stunted look. Very short lengths will add weight. Look then for a medium length that will offset the height and also mask excess weight. Try long tops with slacks for a casual style. Mid length dresses are also a good number. Those who are slightly taller can look for longer length tunics and tops that give more accent to the length than width.

Make your wardrobe your new concealer. Choose your clothes well and any limitation can be worked around. No body type, or person is perfect. With some help, you can overcome any flaw with utmost ease.
