Bone health is important, so that your bones will be healthy and strong throughout your lifetime. It is particularly vital to build strong and healthy bones in the early days and teen years to avoid osteoporosis and other bone problems later in life.  Osteoporosis is a condition in which bones are delicate, making them rupture or break much easier. Caring your bones when you’re young will help prevent problems in the future.

Those of us, who follow a balanced diet and exercise regularly, generally do not lack vitamin D which is indispensable for our bones.

However, on crossing 40 years of age, both women and men, are generally weak in their bones. After menopause in women, the bones become comparatively fragile and are easily susceptible to cracks. a condition of osteoporosis.

After menopause, the weights of the bones in women are reduced by 20%.hip bones become weak. Bones of hands, feet and spinal cord are easily susceptible to cracks. A slight bend in the bones of the waist are also seen.

Vitamin D helps in breaking down calcium to a form contributory to the body. Thus, vitamin D is very essential. Milk and milk products are the best source of vitamin D.

Egg yolk and liver also supply vitamin D. Leafy vegetables and almond must be taken on a regular basis. These reduce chances of weak bones.

The amount of vitamin A in our body must always be in appropriate amounts. An increase in the quantity of vitamin A reduces the activity of calcium.

Food standard agency recommends, not to eat liver more than once a week.
