Cabbage Soup Diet For Weight Loss


Cabbage soup diet is a low calorie diet plan designed for people striving to lose weight within a short period. A typical cabbage soup diet plan usually lasts for a week. Supporters of this diet claim that within a week a person following this diet plan could lose up to 4.5kg of weight.

Originally, the cabbage soup diet was designed for obese patients who were waiting for a surgery. Cabbage soup diet helps obese patients lose weight rapidly, making them fit for undergoing surgeries.

Since this is only a short-term diet plan, nutritionists sometimes consider this diet as the appropriate method of starting a weight loss program. To sustain the weight lost through dieting and to facilitate further weight loss, this diet plan should be followed by a moderate diet.

Cabbage soup diet plan

The cabbage soup diet is designed for one week. You can resume the diet after a gap of two weeks. While cabbage soup is the common ingredient of the diet plan, each day of the diet will have different foods in the menu.

On the first day, you can have cabbage soup along with plenty of fruits, excluding bananas, unsweetened cranberry juice, tea and water.

On the second day of the diet, along with cabbage soup, you can have plenty of raw or cooked vegetables, particularly leafy green vegetables. For dinner, you can have baked potato with butter along with the vegetables and soups. Avoid corn, peas, dry beans and fruits on this day.

On the third day, you can have plenty of fruits and vegetables along with cabbage soup. However, on this day, stay away from baked potatoes.

On the fourth day, you should reduce your sugar craving by eating up to eight bananas along with plenty of skimmed milk and cabbage soup.

On the fifth day, you should have about ten to twenty ounces of beef. Instead of beef, you can even have skinless chicken or broiled fish. Up to six tomatoes should be part of your fifth day diet. You should also drink at least six glasses of water. You can have cabbage soup at least once.

On the sixth day, your menu will comprise of vegetables, excluding potatoes, beef and cabbage soup.

The menu on the last day will comprise of brown rice, vegetables, fruit juices and cabbage soup.
