Most of us avoid carbohydrates in our diet. We are of belief that, intake of carbohydrates, opens up a store house of ailments, chief among them being diabetes and obesity. Low fat diet leads to low consumption of carbohydrates. But we tend to forget that, carbohydrates are equally important as proteins or vitamins. Completely avoiding them is not good for health.
Carbohydrates are fundamentally sugars. The most important sugar of the body is glucose. Glucose is the favored source of energy for the body. The body desires glucose in certain tissues and cells in order to function appropriately. When the blood glucose (or ‘blood sugar’) is low, the body breaks down its glucose energy assets to refill the concentration of the blood glucose to the proper level.
The lowest amount of carbohydrate mandatory to prevent the malnourishment activation systems (ketosis) of fasting is 100 to 150 grams per day. Carbohydrate is required to satisfy the glucose requirement of the brain (120 Grams per day), red blood cell (30 grams per day) and wound curing (20 to 60 grams per day).
These tissues primary fuel is blood sugar or glucose. Muscle tissue is conserved by providing 180 to 200 grams of carbohydrate per day. This is the minimum carbohydrate prerequisite, without the body resorting to breaking down other tissues to build new glucose.
When a person eats carbohydrates, the body absorbs the sugars for cellular function. If you intake appropriate amounts, the body will keep its reserves in place. If you eat unnecessary amounts of carbohydrates, the liver is full of storage molecules, the body will take the carbohydrates and make fat. If you take scarce amounts of carbohydrates, the body will break down its reserves from the liver.
Carbohydrates puts in taste and look into the food item. Apart from its direct remuneration, there is also an additional advantage; carbohydrates are found in different foods, which if eaten, also pave way for consuming other essential nutrients.
Therefore, please don’t avoid carbohydrates.
