Care for Make Up

While we take great pain in getting our make-up right, we don’t spend quite so much over the make-up itself. Poor quality make-up or even a little carelessness can leave a lasting impact while getting dressed.

Never use make-up that has been lying in your drawer for a very long time. Every product has its own shelf life. Try and discard products even before they expire to avoid any mishaps.

Use only good quality products. They might be a little more expensive, but are definitely much safer. It is wiser to have fewer, better products than a whole range of sub-standard make up that not only gives a shabbier look, but is also more harmful to the skin.

Discontinue using products that develop cracks or discolour. This is very common in compacts, eye make up and blush. Products that cannot be used also sometimes begin to give out a peculiar smell. If some make up looks or feels a little suspect, discontinue its use immediately.

Perfumes tend to change colour and smell as they age. This is due to a reaction in the chemicals. Watch for these signs closely and get rid of any old perfumes you store.

Avoid sharing your make up or accessories with too many people as this could lead to inviting a host of skin problems and infections. Skin types and conditions vary from person to person, and sharing your cosmetics is not a very wise thing to do.

Care for your makeup brushes well. Wash them thoroughly with clean water and a mild detergent regularly. This will not only keep them in better shape, but will also prevent infections from occurring.

Make sure that you are not handed a tester, or a cosmetic whole seal has been tampered with. Insist on a closed cover to make sure the product is new and has not been used by anyone else.

A little care and attention to detail will ensure that your make up is in good condition and that will automatically translate into better cared for skin. Be watchful, the only person you are assisting is yourself.
