Care in the Cold

October 31, 2008

Drier, colder climates require more attention to the skin. It tends to dry up faster, lose moisture quickly, and also chaps easily. The skin starts to look lifeless and dull in these months. Just a little change in the foods we eat, and some simple products can help combact all these problems and lead you to great looking skin even in the most adverse conditions.

Look for creams and products better suited for the winter. Glycerine is a useful ingredient that helps keep the skin looking younger and softer, so try and get hold of creams that contain glycerine.

Get rid of fried foods and sweets. Although the winters may bring the holiday cheer, you will have to exercise some restraint as far as these are concerned. The skin’s pattern changes considerably as it starts to get oilier and breaks out faster.

Always give your lips the protection of balm. The lips start drying and chapping much faster and need this extra supplement to keep them safe and protected.

Fruits and vegetables have no substitute. Nature’s gift is a range of delightful fruits that are found in winter. Down these for your daily doses of vitamin C and A, and you will be a lot safer.

Avoid indulging in too much sleep. Researh has shown that the skin secretes more oil as we sleep, and while you may be blissfully aware, your skin could just be on its way to doom.

Use more tomatoes in your food. The lycopene content helps keep sunburn under control. This will help protect the skin even while you are out. While on the topic of the sun, try and ascertain the kind of intensity you will be faced with, and choose your sunblocks accordingly.

Even though you might find the heat easing out on you, do not give yourself the benefit of skipping your shower. The skin is still continuing to battle foreign particles as they make their way onto you. Clean the body well and keep yourself free from bacteria and infections.

There is no cause for worry. This winter, come out of hibernation and show off your skin. It’s easy once you know how.
