October 17, 2008

Curing a cold can be quite a bother. Colds tend to persist and recur rather easily. Although not the most threatening ailment, a cold is among the most bothersome. Medication for a cold is not always a preferred option since it tends to make you drowsy and dull. Home remedies are by far the best way to treat the common cold.

Camphor, when mixed with warm oil should be rubbed on the chest, throat and nose. This gives much relief when applied before sleeping. It helps breathe better and releases clogged nostrils.

Eucalyptus is an oil which finds good use in curing a cold. A few drops of this oil can be mixed in a warm bath to give relief.

Inhalation of vapours from hot water mixed either with camphor or eucalyptus oil is a good way of clearing congestion and getting phlegm out of the body.

Rubbing feet with warm oil at night before retiring is a useful remedy in curing a cold.

One or two drops of cow’s ghee can be poured into the nose to help clear a cold. Ghee can also be applied to the insides of the feet to help recover quickly.

The extract of a few leaves of mint and basil can be mixed with a little pepper powder and consumed to help heal colds faster.

Vitamin C is very good in curing colds. Concentrated juice of orange can be consumed provided it is either at room temperature or even slightly warm.

Dry ginger paste is another potent cure. When applied around the nasal area, it helps breathe better and also assists in curing the cold.

Now colds can be cured easily and painlessly at home. A little care and love can help the healing much better.
