June 8, 2009
Sinusitis or blockage of sinus literally drives us mad. With the nose blocked, you cannot sleep. You will get headache. You will feel irritated and drowsy all the time. While prescriptions drugs can be used to prevent sinusitis, you can also cure nose blockage naturally.
Prevent exposure to allergens
Allergies are often the cause of sinusitis. Allergens, which enter the sinus through the nostrils, cause inflammation of the sinus lining. Dust, smoke, pollens and mold are responsible for blocked noses. To prevent allergies, the only remedy is to prevent exposure to allergens. You should stay away from dust and other forms of allergens. During the spring and early summer, when the pollen count in the air is high, cover your nose with a handkerchief while walking outdoors.
Keep your nostrils moist
In normal circumstances, the cilia or the tiny hairs present in the nostrils, traps bacteria, preventing them from entering the sinuses. The cilia should remain moist to do its work effectively. Keeping the cilia moist is an effective way of treating congested nose. To cure sinusitis, take a hot steam bath. Allow the steam to enter your nostrils. You can also inhale vapor.
Hot beverages
Sip piping hot tea, coffee or soups. While drinking, hold your hand over the cup, and bend your nostrils over the cup, to allow the steam to enter the nostrils.
Clean congested nose
Sneezing is a natural process of cleaning stuffy nose. Forget your manners, and feel free to sneeze anytime. Blow your nostrils to flush bacteria and mucus, which had clogged your sinuses.
Exercise
Exercises releases adrenalin in the body. Adrenalin, by constricting blood vessels, could reduce inflammation of the sinus. If your nose is congested, do some mild exercise.
Massage your nostrils
Massage the sides of your nostrils with your thumb. This would give your some relief.
Food
Spicy and hot foods provide relief from stuffy nose. Consume Garlic, onions and peppers. The pungent scented horseradish acts an effective decongestant.
