Vitamin D helps you keep up the pace, maintain a balance in all body functions and stops you from wearing out. While a small deficiency of Vitamin D may not make a large difference initially, the gap tends to widen with progressing age. The damage done when older age is reached is almost irrepairable. Simple functions like grip, balance and speed are slowed down. Muscle strength is also found to be very weak, and simple acts like standing from seated position are most difficult.
The beauty about Vitamin D is that it is found almost free. Sun exposure gives a large amount of Vitamin D to the body. The best time to soak up on the sun is in the early morning as the heat is least intense, yet most powerful with nutrients. There are fortified foods and natural varieties that contain Vitamin D which also may be had. Make sure you make up for the lost sun with foods during winter and with age. Vitamin D supplements may also be taken during these times.
There is a good reason to lie back in the sun and not feel guilty. You are just preparing yourself for the times ahead.
