Diet for Lactose Intolerance

Lactose intolerance is the lack of ability to digest considerable quantities of lactose i.e. the primary sweetener in milk. The deficiency of lactase enzyme in body is the root cause for development of this incapability.
This enzyme is generally formed by cellulite that outlines small intestine. The 3 categories of this disease are primary, secondary and congenital. Nausea, cramps in different portions of body, swelling, acidosis, vomit, sore throat, nasal congestion and diarrhea are usual symptoms of lactose intolerance.
All these three categories of this disease lead towards severe deficiency of calcium in body.
Nutritional Recommendations for Lactose Intolerance
Several past studies conducted by reputed agencies have revealed that loads of patients suffering from lactose intolerance are proficient in consuming reasonable quantities of milk and other dairy products devoid of developing any symptoms, particularly if milk is associated with meals.
The best natural sources to obtain calcium are milk and dairy products. It is advisable for people with lactose intolerance to check their body’s ability prior to including yoghurt in meals. Though, the content of lactose and calcium is very high in yoghurt but studies have shown that some patients are unable to digest even a small bowl of it.
It is advisable for patients to consume cheese as well as green leafy vegetables like broccoli, kale, etc to cope with the deficiencies of nutrients essential for healthy life. Despite of prohibition of dairy products, cheese is considered as beneficial owing to the process involved in its production. A majority of lactose and whey found in milk is removed in the production process of cheese.
An increased consumption of soy milk assists in fulfilling much daily requirements of calcium. It is recommended to drink at least two glasses of soy milk daily to prevent diseases originated due to reduced availability of calcium in body.
Drinking one glass of fresh orange juice several times a day provides approximately 50 gm of calcium. It is essential to avoid consumption of preserved orange juice as most of the nutrients in packed juices loose their overall strength due to the additives used in them. Along with orange juice, fresh extract of lettuce is also a good option to substitute the deficiency of lactose in body.
