Diet for Patients Suffering from Chickenpox

Chickenpox

Chicken pox is caused a by a virus called herpes virus. It is a contagious viral disease and is associated with fever, headache and weakness. There will be rashes on the skin and it may cause itching too. Rashes may appear on the digestive system and respiratory system also. Hence the consumption of food may be difficult during this time. You have to avoid spicy, fatty, salty and oily food while having chicken pox. Following foods can be given to patients suffering from chicken pox.

Soup

You can take soups which are easy to digest but at the same time impart energy. Take 100 grams of carrot and about 60 grams of fresh coriander leaves. Cut them in to small pieces and boil in a cup of water. Boil the entire contents in low flame for about 15 minutes. Keep it for cooling and then strain the liquid. Take this soup at least once in a day. This is a very effective treatment.

Herbal Tea

For making herbal tea, you can use different herbs like marigold, basil, chamomile,  lemon balm etc. Take any of this and add a little cinnamon and boil the mixture. Then add a teaspoon lemon juice and honey to this mixture. Consume this several times a day.

Fruits and Vegetables

The patient should be given juices taken from vegetables and fruits. A juice diet will be ideal during this time. Lemon juice is highly beneficial during this period. Frozen juices are also ideal. Apart from juices, fresh fruits and raw vegetables are also ideal during this period.. Fruits and vegetable will supply a lot of vitamins and minerals and this in turn will fortify your immune system and helps you to fight against the viral infection.

Garlic

Include enough garlic in to the patient’s diet as garlic has anti-microbial property. This will help you to get rid of the micro-organisms from your body and gives you relief from the chicken pox.

Water

Drink a lot of water and it may help you to keep away from dehydration.
