Dietary Guidelines for Liver Cirrhosis

Prolonged disease, disorders or injuries to liver leads to the malfunctioning of liver. This malfunctioning is known as cirrhosis of liver. The progressive deterioration of liver configuration and function might eventually result in hepatic collapse and demise.

Several studies conducted by American Health Association reveal that in America out of every 12 alcoholic addicts one alcoholic develops cirrhosis of liver. Excessive intake of alcohol, inadequate consumption of nutrition, and elevated levels of toxins in body are major reasons for cirrhosis of liver.

The symptoms includes recurrent attacks of indigestion, nausea, loss of weight, severe stomach ache, fatigue, mild fever together with swelling on abdomen and bad breath.

Healthy Diet – an all-fruit diet or juice fasting given to patient suffering from cirrhosis of liver paces up the detoxification process of liver. fresh extract of citrus fruits like oranges, apples, grapes and peaches should be given several times during a day till the times cirrhosis is treated.

The maximum daily quantity of fruit juices should be limited to two liters. A glass of fat free milk can also be given to patient. In major meals, an all-fruit diet containing fresh vegetables, fruits or homemade raw cottage cheese, sprouts, almonds, beets, squashes, tomato, papaya, eggplant can be given to patient. Regular consumption of carrot and tomato juice assists in speedy recovery.

LemonFresh lemon water with some rock salt should be given to patient for an effective detoxification of liver. It is recommended to restrict the consumption of lemon water to a maximum of one time. Regular consumption of lemon water also boosts the functionality of liver and prevents state of dehydration.

Enema – Warm water enema should be used for the duration of the treatment to rinse out the toxins from bowels. It is essential to treat constipation with utmost priorities.

Hot Compress – Application of a hot compress two times a day helps in reducing the pain.

Avoid – A person suffering from cirrhosis should avoid consumption of alcohol, processed or preserved foods, smoking, aerated sodas, caffeine, spices, chicken products, fried snacks, meats, oils, butter and refined sugar. It is advisable to avert physical activities or exercises during cirrhosis of liver.
