Dietary Guidelines To Treat Gout

Gout is a painful condition associated with inflammation of joints. Inflammation of joints occurs due to deposits of uric acid crystals in joints and soft tissues. Symptoms of gout are red, stiff, and painful swollen Joints. During gout attacks intensity of pain increases unexpectedly and remains for a couple of days.
Ankles, knees, heels, elbows, hands, wrist and fingers are the areas which are mostly affected by gouts. Intake of diets high in purine is major reason for gout occurrence. Given below are few dietary guidelines for persons suffering from gout.
Lemon – Lemon’s abundant source of vitamin C helps to dissolve uric acid deposits in the joints. Increased consumption of vitamin C in the form of green leafy vegetables, tomatoes, green pepper and citrus fruits helps to minimize gout attacks. Intake of one lemon juice mixed in a glass of water thrice a day is beneficial to treat gout.
Fluids – Consumption of fluids in large quantity helps to remove excess uric acid out of the body. Increased intake of liquids promotes flushing of uric acid via urinary tract, preventing storage of uric acids inside the system resultant in elimination of root elements responsible for development of gout. As per advisories issued by American Health Association, up to 12 ounces of fluids is ideal to drink in a day.
Beans – Inclusion of french beans in daily meals are one of the best natural remedies to reduce swelling. Half a cup of french bean juice should be consumed at least once a day to get rid of inflammation during gout attacks.
Apple Cider Vinegar – Take 2 tsp of organic apple cider vinegar mix with equivalent proportions of honey daily for early recovery.
Phosphorus – Banana is a rich source of phosphorus. Consumption of phosphorus rich foods develops a reaction with uric acid which is significant in elimination of uric acid deposits. It is recommended to consume up to 3-4 bananas per day to cure gout.
Avoid – It is advisable for persons suffering from gout to confine the consumption of animal protein as much as possible to control severe pain associated with gout attacks. Limit the intake of dairy products and lean meat. It is essential to avoid alcoholism, smoking and excessive intake of caffeine based products to restrain the occurrences of gout attacks.
