Doubling Diet Benefits

December 15, 2008

We often know that there are foods that cannot be had in combination with one another. Cucumber and water, for instance, are a deadly combination that must be avoided. On the other hand, some foods complement each other famously. Like lemon and honey, the most popular example. They can help cure stomach ailments, nausea, skin problems, and also help lose extra weight. Here are some lesser known food facts.

Eggs and Pineapple

These are great together, since the absorption of the iron content in the egg is maximized when had with foods rich in vitamin C. When had in isolation, the body would only be able to assimilate about one fourth of the iron in the egg. Other substitutes to the pineapple are oranges or even lemon juice.

Cereals and Pulses

This is a blessing for vegetarians, since, when used in combination, the nutritive value of these two foods combined amounts to the consumption of animal protein. It gives the body the benefit of a whole lot of amino acids and also lysine. This is the main reason that rice and pulses are had together at many meals, and make a great duo.

Green Tea

This makes a perfect completion to all meals, since it helps digest the food that has been eaten. The benefit of green tea to the body and skin is known by all, and when had after a heavy meal, it helps protect the body well. It is light on the system, and is not known to react with any foods. It also subsides the need to follow your meal with a sweet, and is a good option fot those watching their weight.

There’s twice as much reason to put together your favourtite foods and have a good time while your body cares for itself.
