Dry Fruits That Help Lose Weight

January 1, 2009

It is common knowledge that dry fruits tend to have higher levels of fats, and help put on weight quickly. We all look for foods that not only taste good, but also do good for the body. It’s easy to find foods we love, but most of them only either pile on unwanted calories, or large amounts of sugar which amount to poison for the body.

Raisins make great snacks and are full of healthy nutrients that can go a long way in boosting health. Raisins are full of fibre, and are high in folic acid. They are excellent for pregnant ladies since they not only give natural folic acid content, but also prevent problems like constipation. They also have large amounts of potasium and iron, and are filled with antioxidants.

Try using raisins as a snack between meals. This makes a much healthier alternative to most foods. It can also give increased energy instantly and help concentrate better. This is also a good substitute to sweets and a few raisins can actually make a good option as opposed to having sweets or desserts after your meal. Whichever way, raisins are great eaten anytime.

Raisins can supplement, and occasionally even substitute fruits. They can be used as a small munch in between meals to curb hunger pangs. Since they are low in fat, they can be consumed easily in a small handful. Raisins can be added into sandwiches, salads, cereal and oatmeal, or even in your curries. Raisins can also be added to make interesting desserts and even toppings for ice cream.

It is little known that raisins can help increase metabolic rate of the body and help give more evergy to burn fats. Since they are free from fatty acids, they are the best substitutes to sports drinks.
