Easy Remedies for Ear Infection
Ear infection can occur in different parts of the year. The ear canal, the eardrum or the middle area could be affected by the infection. Several factors can cause infection in the ear. Compared to adults, children are more prone to ear infections.
Causes of ear infection
Contrary to popular belief, soap and water are not responsible for ear infections. Ear infection usually develops when the Eustachian tube is blocked, and the debris and fluids in the ear could not be drained into the throat.
The clogged Eustachian tube becomes the breeding ground of bacteria, causing ear infection. Children have short Eustachian tube. They are therefore susceptible to ear infections. Ear injury, swimming and scuba diving could increase the risk of ear infection.
Symptoms of ear infection
Ear infection causes ear pain, a ringing sound in the ear, blockage in ear, vertigo and dizziness.
Ear infection remedies
Several home remedies are available for treating ear infection. Hydrogen peroxide is widely used for treating this condition. Put two to three drops of hydrogen peroxide in your ear once a day. This would help to remove the blockage in the auditory canal rapidly. Applying garlic juice in the ear can also help to cure ear infection. You can also put garlic oil in your ear to cure the ear infection.
To make garlic oil, heat ten to fifteen cloves of garlic in coconut oil or any other suitable vegetable oil for fifteen to twenty minutes, until the garlic cloves become brown in color. Drain the oil and allow it to cool. Put two to three drops of garlic oil with a dropper in the infected ear. Onion juice can also help to heal the ear infection.
You can mix vinegar and water in equal proportions and put it in the ear to cure your infection. To reduce the ear pain, you can hold a hot water bottle against your ear. Until the ear infection has healed, you should avoid swimming and scuba diving. Cold can worsen your problem. To protect your ear from the cold wind, always cover your ears when you are outdoors.
