Easy Ways to Cure Cough

Coughing is the spontaneous method of the body by which excess mucus is driven away from the air passages of the lungs. This is because when the membranes of the air passages of the lungs get contaminated and inflamed, excess mucus is produced which needs to be discarded.

Remedies

Coughs can be extremely irritating and painful. They need to be checked and treated properly so that the mucus is released and the air passage is cleared. Home remedies work very well to cure seasonal coughs. For more chronic problems, one needs to consult a doctor.

Grapes

Grapes act as the best natural expectorant and help in easy release of the mucus. One cup of grape juice taken with a tsp of honey must be taken daily in the morning. This helps to cure any cough or cold problem.

Onion

Onion juice is also an effective cure for cough. It helps in releasing phlegm when taken with lemon juice and warm water. Take the juice of a medium sized onion and mix it with the juice of a lemon and one cup warm water. It is to be taken twice a day. One can also make a cough syrup of onion juice and honey. Mix the juice of an onion with 2 tsp of honey and reserve it for 4-5 hours. This syrup is to be consumed twice a day. It makes an excellent cough syrup.

Turmeric

Turmeric is an excellent remedy for dry cough. Roast the roots of turmeric plant and grind it into fine powder. Take 1/2 tsp of this powder with 1 tsp of honey twice a day.

Almond

Soak ten almonds in water and leave it overnight. Next morning peel the almonds and make a paste of it adding 20gm of butter and 1 tsp sugar to it. Take one tsp of this paste twice a day for a week. This helps cure dry cough.

Raisins

Raisins sauce is a popular and tasty home remedy for cough, especially for children. Crush 100gm of raisins in water and boil it. Add 100gm sugar to it and keep boiling till it appears like a sauce. Cool and preserve it. Take 1 tsp of this syrup at bedtime daily for 10 days. This cures cough very effectively.

Along with this the patient need to take one glass of orange juice and add lots of fruits to his/her diet to cure cough fast.
