Facts about Bacopa monnieri- Brahmi
Bacopa monnieri is a creeping herb that grows in marshy areas. It grows up to 10 cm in height and produces pinkish or white five petaled flowers. Leaves are fleshy and oval shaped which grows up to 1-2 cm long. It prefers shade but can be grown in full sun if provided with good amount of water. Bacopa is found to be ideal for improving the memory and is used as a brain tonic.
Active Ingredients in Bacopa monnieri
Bacopa comprises saponins called as bacopaside I and II. The aerial parts of bacopa contains photochemicals like wogonin, oroxindin and betulinic acid. The flavanoids present in bacopa includes luteolin and apigenin. All these ingredients together impart the medicinal properties to bacopa.
Uses of Bacopa monnieri
1. Improve Mental Problems
The most popular use of bacopa is associated with treatment of various mental problems. In order to improve the memory, retention capacity and concentration of human being it is advisable to take bacopa on a regular basis. It is also found that use of bacopa oil make your child intelligent. This is because the bacopa improves the blood circulation to the brain.
