Flatulence: Prevention and Quick Remedies

Sometime or other, all of us suffer from flatulence or problems of gas build up. Gases, such as oxygen, carbon dioxide and nitrogen are present in our digestive tract.

Oxygen and nitrogen enters our gut as we eat and talk. When the acids in our stomach react with digestive juices and bile, carbon dioxide is produced. Gases absorbed in our blood stream, leaves our body as we exhale air through our lungs. The remaining gases leave our body through the anus.

Causes of flatulence

Problems of flatulence occur from overproduction of gases in our stomach. Presence of excess bacteria in the stomach, that increase acid production, could be responsible for flatulence. Flatulence can occur from foods that are hard to digest, such as fiber rich foods and malt products.

Food contamination can also be responsible for flatulence. Flatulence can be a symptom of gastroenteritis, irritable bowel syndrome, peptic ulcer, gallbladder diseases, gallbladder stones, colon cancer, diverticulosis and food allergies.
