Fruits To Thrash The Heat
As the summer sets in, the weather begins to get hot and humid. This dehydrates your skin, causing fatigue and tiredness. Because of this you tend to lose your appetite, and find it difficult to consume cooked food. Nature seems to be aware of this, because it is during summer, one finds maximum fruits. Fruits are rich in water content, and help to rehydrate your system, apart from rejuvenating and cooling it.
The World Health Organization recommends that you have at least 400gms of fruits and vegetables everyday.
Watermelon has 97% water and is full of minerals, antioxidants, vitamin C and beta carotene. It helps to beat heatstroke. It’s low in calories but belly filling.
Muskmelon belongs to cucumber family. It is low in calories. It is a rich source of carotene and fibre.
Litchis are rich in vitamins A and C. it has high water content, and is also a good source of anti oxidants.
Mango’s arrival is most awaited. With over 100 varieties and each with a different taste, they always top the list. Although high in calories (an average mango has about 80-100 calories), they are the richest sources of fibre and minerals.
Guava is acknowledged as common man’s apple, this is one of the finest fruits to have. It contains thrice the amount of vitamin C, than orange.It is also a good source of fibre. Eating this fruit is the moist natural method of relieving constipation.
Papaya is most common fruit. It contains papain, excellent for digestion. Its rich in Vitamin C and A. It’s available all throughout the year.
Banana is at its best in summer. Cheapest of all fruits available in the market. It is an excellent source of potassium. It acts as an antacid too. An average size banana contains 95 calories, but no fat.
So make sure you have more than one kind of fruit daily.
