Genital Wart Remedies


Genital warts are a sexually transmitted infection caused by the Human Pappiloma Virus or HPV. Also known as venereal warts or condylomata acuminate, genital warts appear as small flat or cauliflower shaped bumps on the genital area, including the vagina, vulva, anus, rectum, cervix and penis.

In case of oral sex, genital wart can appear in the throat and mouth. The virus responsible for causing genital warts is also associated with cervical and genital cancers.

Genital warts causes

When someone comes in sexual contact with a person suffering from genital warts, infection develops. It might take three months to several years to develop the genital warts problems. Unprotected sex with several partners, previous history of any other sexually transmitted disease or sex at a young age, increases the risk of developing genital warts.

Genital warts symptoms

Small bumps are sometimes so tiny that they are hardly visible with the naked eyes. When the flesh colored swelling become big and appear in clusters, they become more visible. Itching, discomfort in the genital area, and bleeding during intercourse are common symptoms of genital wart. Both men and women suffer from genital warts.

Genital warts home remedies

Generally, medicines and surgery are recommended for treating genital warts. However, certain home remedies could help to alleviate the problem. Castor oil is a powerful antiviral agent.

Applying castor oil on the infected area could reduce the discomfort. Vinegar, particularly apple cider vinegar, can also be used for treating the infection. Applying salted onion juice or aloe vera on the warts can help to reduce the inflammation.

Applying juice of fig stem, two to three times each day, can cure genital warts. You can also apply crushed garlic on the infected area. Vitamin E oil is also beneficial for treating genital warts.

To cure the warts, apply 800IU of vitamin E oil daily on the warts. Proteolytic enzymes present in pineapple peel could cure the warts by breaking the infected tissues. Cut a piece of pineapple peel and tie it to the infected area with a Band-Aid. The warts will gradually reduce in size. Oil of white cedar leaf can also be used for treating warts.
