Going Dry
Dry fruits are great for the body. They are high in nutrients and very good to help stimulate all body functions.
The fig, available in different forms, can be of valuable use to the body. The fruit is available in dry and fleshy form. It contains sugar, salts, gum and fats in the fleshy form. While in the dry form, it is loaded with albumin, sugar, gum and salts.
Figs are cooling, soothing and calming to the mucus membrane. They help bring clear motion. They can be easily digested. They are useful to the kidney and liver due to their diuretic properties. Patients suffering from consumption, tuberculosis, chronic cough and colds can take figs to provide nutrition. The juice of the pulp is good for children and infants. Equal parts of figs, almonds, pistachio, cardamom and sugar candy should be taken and immersed in cow’s ghee for a few days. When taken in the morning every day, this makes for a good aphrodisiac.
Dates are highly nourishing, nutritious and good tonics. They are diuretic, laxatives and soothe the mucus membrane. They remove fatigue and exhaustion. Dates can even help remove and quench thirst. The seeds, when dried and roasted help make a brew called date coffee.
When fresh dates are steeped in water and the drink is administered, it helps subside alcoholic intoxication. It is also a good dry fruit for children.
