Corriander plays a vital role in the food we eat. It is not only a great garnish but imparts a distinct, refreshing flavour to food. It seasons food very well when used as seeds or in powder form. The juic from the stems is another tasty remedy that is very effective. All parts of the corrainder dedicate itself to giving us a healthy life.
Generally believed to be a hot item, corrainder is actually cooling, soothing and calming. Cold in action, it is a diuretic and carminative, and subsides the air and fire elements in the body.
Corriander is fragrant and aromatic, and is used for its medicinal and fragrant properties. It is an appetiser, sweet and astringent, and also subsides thirst.
Corriander is very rich in Vitamin A, and is extremely good for the eyes, body and skin. Dry corriander when taken and powdered. can be used to make a decoction or tea, and after being filtered can be used to wash the eyes. It cures the eyes from conjunctivitis, stops burning sensation, pain and swelling. Juice of the corriander can also be extracted and put in the eyes.
Corriander powder is another form that can be added to yogurt, used to spice vegetables and salads.
Corriander seeds are sometimes used for tempering as well. No matter what way they are used in, the benefits can be derived equally effectively.
Corriander finds great use in chutneys and makes for a great side serving. Dips using corriander can also be used with great effect. Use corriander generously and find good eyesight easily.
