One of the earliest fruits to be cultivated by man, fig is a bombshell of nutrients. Such is the nutrient content of this fruit that it is believed that man can survive healthily only on figs. Originally from small Asia, this fruit is a favorite of people all over the world.

Nutrients found in Figs

Figs are rich in calcium, potassium, Vitamin B6, iron and magnesium. A very fibrous fruit, figs provide more fibre than any other fruit or vegetable. Being low in fat, it can be consumed to any amount and at any time of the day. Figs are rich in pectin, a soluble fibre that helps reduce blood cholesterol. Figs are also helpful for patients who suffer from chronic constipation as it is believed that the fruit has a laxative effect.

Figs have high water content and are ideal for skin improvement. They cleanse the skin and clear any acne and blemish problems. Overall, figs are good for skin care.

Fatigue

Fresh Figs contain up to 80% of water with the highest levels of natural sugars. So they are a brilliant source of energy and stimulant for the brain. They make you more alert, responsive and fresh.

Figs are also beneficial for those who are lactose intolerant and cannot take much milk to provide calcium to the body.
