Health Advantages of Mint

Digestive Tract Friendly – Since medieval times, mint owing to its specific aroma is used to enhance appetite and promote food digestion. Consuming mint when suffering from indigestion or inflammation of stomach ensures almost instantaneous relief from pain and other symptoms.

Nausea – To get rid of nausea and severe headache, a steamer containing few drops of pure mint oil or four-five leaves of fresh mint should be prepared. The inhalation of this steam is one of the most effective remedies to cure nausea and severe headaches. It is advisable for persons suffering from frequent attacks of nausea or headaches to carry mint based balm or cream all the time to avert sudden occurrence of headache.

Respiratory Tract – Owing to the therapeutic benefits of mint’s aroma, it is used greatly in curing several respiratory disorders and ailments. Inhaling few drops of mint oil aids in curing nasal congestion and provides soothing relief to respiratory organs. It is advisable for persons suffering from asthma, bronchitis and other acute respiratory diseases to regularly inhale mint oil and apply mint based balms on forehead, nose and chest to get instant relief from sore throat, dissolve accumulated mucous in nasal passages & chest, and to relax the excited lungs.

Skin Care – Owing to the extraordinary medicinal and anti-allergic properties of mint, it is widely used as a natural skin cleanser. Cleansing skin regularly with mint oil assists in elimination of infections, itching, and promotes health of skin. Owing to its anti allergic properties, mint oil is also used in assorted remedies to treat bug bites.

Oral Care – Due to the strong aroma and anti bacterial properties of mint, it is used in several breath freshening products all over world. Chewing two or three leaves of fresh mint post meals assists in preventing bad breath and growth of bacteria inside dental cavities and tongue.

Burns – It is advisable to apply few drops of undiluted mint oil on affected portion of skin to provide instantaneous relief from pain, itching and irritation.

High Fever – Consuming diluted mint juice in petite quantities several times a day increases the sweating which further aids in reducing increased temperature of body.
