Beetroot is a vegetable of which both the roots and leaves are used for cooking. Most of the people will be familiar with the purple or red colored roots of beetroot. These roots are both sweat and salty at the same time. Both the leaves and roots are highly nutritious and have good medicinal properties too.
Nutrients in Beetroot
Beet root is rich in folic acid, potassium, manganese, fiber etc while the leaves are rich in iron, calcium, vitamin C and A. both the leaves and roots are good source of magnesium, phosphorus, vitamin B6, iron etc. Beetroot is also rich in zinc, iodine, chlorine, pantothenic acid, niacin, riboflavin, thiamine, beta-carotene, protein etc.
Blood
Beetroot is an ideal vegetable for those who suffering from anemia. The presence of iron and magnesium in beetroot will help in blood production. Daily intake of beetroot juice will also help you to reduce your high blood pressure. The fibers present in beet-roots also aids in lowering the level of cholesterol present in the blood.
Nerves
Beet-roots are found to improve the strength of the nerves.

Beetroot is a good remedy for treating skin diseases. Boil some beetroot pieces in some water and use this water for treating inflammation, pimples and boils on the skin.
Hair
Make a decoction of beetroot and mix it with some vinegar. Now apply this mixture on your scalp and this will help you to get rid of the dandruff.
Aphrodisiac
Beetroot is rich in boron and our body use boron for manufacturing the sex hormones. This increases the sexual desire.
Liver
Betaine present in beetroot will support the healthy functioning of the liver and thus liver works properly and will breakdown the fats efficiently. Thus beetroot aids in losing weight.
Beetroot is found to have betacyanin which has good antioxidant property. The antioxidant property of beetroot will protect us by preventing the formation of nitrosamines, the cancer causing compounds. This property of beetroot will also protect us from many oxidative stress related disorders.
Beetroot having a lot of fiber will act as a laxative and promotes bowel movement.
