Honeybush tea is an indigenous beverage of South Africa that is noted for several health benefits. Although, the taste of this herbal tea closely resembles that of rooibos tea, another popular beverage of South Africa, but it is sweeter than rooibos tea. The honeybush plant derives its name from its honey smelling flowers. Out of the 23 species of honeybush plant, only 4 to 5 species are used for commercial cultivation. Honeybush tea is a caffeine free beverage that can be used for treating several illnesses.
Good for the central nervous system
Unlike conventional tea, honeybush tea is devoid of caffeine. This caffeine free drink helps to calm the central nervous system. Honeybush tea is particularly beneficial for people suffering from sleeping difficulties. Besides healing insomnia, honeybush tea could help to cure headache, nervousness, irritability and mild depression.
Good for gastro intestinal health
Honeybush tea is good for the gastrointestinal health. People suffering from digestion problems could benefit from drinking this herbal tea. Honeybush tea can be taken for alleviating heartburn, nausea and constipation. It can also help to cure constipation. Abdominal cramps could also be treated with honeybush tea.
