Home Remedies for Body Odour

Body Odour is a common problem we all fear, with summers just at the corner. It is a real embarrassment for the one who smells and a serious irritation for people around. One should be very cautious and careful about this problem as body odours are sometimes a really serious menace.

Causes

Various things can cause body odour. It can be because of kidney disorders or internal infections, thyroid disease or liver malfunctioning. One’s food habits can also be the cause. Eating spicy food and consuming excess alcohol and tobacco can cause body odour. But most commonly it is excessive sweating. However, sweating does not causes the odour but the bacteria that grow there.

Precautions and Remedies

Basic precautions are the foremost thing one got to take care of in order to check body odour. One must ensure that his/her armpits are clean. Regular waxing is the best way to clean one’s armpits. One must always have a regular bath using an antibacterial soap. Keeping oneself dry is also important. Using of a talcum powder, especially a baby powder is recommended to keep oneself dry, especially the regions which sweat a lot. Always wear light coloured cotton clothes in summer as they absorb the sweat very well.

Avoid Deodorants and antiperspirants

Most people use a deodorant or an antiperspirant during summer to avert body odour. Avoid doing so as they clog the sweat pores and can cause serious problems. Instead use white vinegar or alcohol to clean your underarms. Alum is also recommended as it kills the bacteria. Application of baking soda in the arm pits also absorb the sweat and kill the bacteria effectively.

Optional Remedy

If the body odour is severe, then one may use tomato juice. Immersing oneself in water mixed with a few cups of tomato juice is an effective remedy. Tomato juice cleans the body, kills bacteria and keeps one feeling fresh for a long time.

Proper diet

Diet controls most of our daily problems. A bad diet can cause body odour. One must consume lots of whole grains, leafy vegetables, sprouts, fruits, fresh juice and lots of water. One must avoid consumption of oily or spicy food, tobacco, alcohol, garlic, onion, and caffeine. Red meat is also to be avoided.
