Cataract

Cataract is a pathological condition that affects the lens of the eyes and causes unclear vision. Cataract happens when the lens becomes opaque and whitish and will hinder the entry of light to the eye. Cataract develops due to the deposition of salts and acids between lens fibers, deterioration in the nutrition of the lens and also due to the disintegration of the lens fibers. The factors that contribute to the cataract are excessive usage of alcohol, smoking, salt, sugar, vitamin deficiencies, diseases like diabetics, gall bladder disturbances, gastrointestinal problems etc.

Home Remedies

1.    Milk and cardamom are found to be highly beneficial for treating cataract. Drink a glass of boiled milk that contains two pieces of cardamom in it on every night before going to the bed.

2.    Garlic has a cleansing property and it will help you to clean the crystalline lens present in the eye. So it will be a good idea to incorporate 2 to 3 cloves garlic in your daily diet. Chew the raw garlic slowly but should not swallow them.

3.    Take 7 kernels of almond and ½ gram pepper and grind them well with water. You can also add sugar candy to the mixture and take it daily. This will help you to treat cataract.

4.    Carrots are good sources of vitamin A and vitamin A is essential for maintaining the health of the eye. You can include raw carrot as well as carrot juice in your diet.

5.    Flower juice of pumpkin when employed on the eye lid can cure cataract. Similarly you can make a paste out of 4 kernels of almond soaked over night in 3 tablespoon of milk. Mix sandalwood with this paste and apply it on your eyelid to get rid of the cataract.

6.    Add 2 or 3 drops of unprocessed honey in to your eye and reduce the effect of cataract. Pure castor oil if dropped in to your eye daily before going to sleep will produce the same effect.

7.    Take equal quantities of aniseed and coriander powder and mix them with a little of brown sugar. Consume 12 grams of this mixture daily in the morning and evening and is a good remedy for cataract.

8.     Include vegetables like parsley, cauliflower, spinach, drumstick, fenugreek, turnip and fruits like oranges, dates, grapes, soaked raisins etc in your diet and keep your eye healthy.
