Home Remedies for Chicken Pox

November 25, 2008

Chicken pox is an ailment that takes long to cure completely. Not only is care required in treatment, but also after recovering from the illness to ensure all traces are removed from the body. Many home remedies work best in curing chicken pox.

The best cure for chicken pox is the use of neem. It is used in various ways to protect. Neem leaves are hung in clusters along the doorway of the room of the infected person to ensure that other infections are kept away from the patient. Neem is also spread under the sheet and pillows of the bed as a disinfectant, and also to curb itching sensations.

Whenever there is itching in the body, neem leaves are gently swept over the troubled areas to give relief. Sratching with the nails causes infections and bleeding. The marks of the scabs also remain if they are itched.

Neem leaves are boiled in water and used to bathe along with turmeric. This helps to heal wounds faster and check the spread of infection.

A paste made with tender neem leaves mixed with fresh turmeric extract is applied all over the body.
Very bland, oil free food is the best diet. Avoid food that is tempered as it has the tendency to irritate the throat. Avoid any spices.

Coconut water and thin buttermilk are very good. Also give plenty of fruit juices. These help in cooling the body and soothe greatly.

Rose water is a good application on the infected areas on the skin to give relief from itching and cool the skin well. It also helps external wound heal faster.

It is a belief that it guests should not be encouraged to visit in a house where a patient is suffering from chicken pox. Similarly, if there is a patient with chicken pox in a family, they do not visit other much for fear of spreading the illness.
