Home Remedies for Cholesterol
Cholesterol is a necessary ingredient present in the body and it ensures the proper functioning of the body. It is present in fatty sheaths that protects the nerves and is a major ingredient in sex hormones and bile juice. It also protects the red blood cells, muscular membranes and transport fats. There are two types of cholesterol in the body and they are good and bad cholesterol. Bad cholesterol constitutes low density lipo-protein which causes blockage in arteries while the good cholesterol consists of high density lipo-protein which helps in removing the bad cholesterol from the blood. When the normal level of cholesterol increases, it may lead to serious heart problems.
Home Remedies
1. A patient having high blood cholesterol must take at least ten glasses of water a day and this will increase the blood purification through kidney and reduces the level of cholesterol.
2. Replace your cooking oil with olive oil as it contains good amount of anti-oxidative substances and mono unsaturated fatty acids. These substances will lower the bad cholesterol level in your blood and increase the good cholesterol level.
3. Fresh and raw onion juices are found to be effective for lowering the cholesterol level in the blood. Onion juices will purify and improves the circulation of the blood and improves the functioning of the heart. It is also beneficial for treating insomnia.
4. Regular intake of two or three cloves of garlic will reduce the cholesterol level in your blood.
5. Mix one teaspoon of methi/ fenugreek seed powder with a glass of water and take it on an empty stomach daily in the morning. In a month’s time your cholesterol level will get reduced.
6. The most important fruit used for treating cholesterol is apple. Mix 12 tablespoons of apple juice with six tablespoons each of grape and apple juice vinegar. Daily intake of this drink will help you to reduce the cholesterol level.
7. Sunflower seed is a good remedy for reducing blood cholesterol. This is because it contains linoleic acid which will reduce the cholesterol deposits in and around the capillaries and thus improves the blood circulation.
Exercise also plays an important role in reducing the cholesterol level. So you need to do regular exercise.
