Home Remedies for Low Blood Pressure

April 4, 2009

Low blood pressure, otherwise called Hypotension, means the fall of blood pressure below normal. It is the direct result of a damaged cardiac system and occurs when the action of the heart in pumping blood into the arteries becomes weak.

Symptoms

A patient suffering from low blood pressure complains of lethargy, weakness, fatigue and dizziness. He/she may even faint if arterial pressure is lowered further when he is in an erect position. These symptoms are due to reduction in perfusion of blood to the brain, heart and skeletal muscle.

Causes

The most common cause for low blood pressure is faulty diet or incomplete nourishment. This results in very less supply of oxygen and nutrients to the tissues. Malnutrition can occur from a diet deficient in calories, proteins, vitamin C, or other vitamins. Other reasons that cause low blood pressure are loss of blood, slow internal bleeding, emotional disturbances nd to an extent, prolonged dissatisfaction and frustration may also cause low blood pressure.

Remedies

Beet root

The juice of beet root is very effective in curing low blood pressure. The patient must drink a cup of this juice two times daily for treating this state.

Common salt

Until the blood pressure arrive at normal levels through proper dietary and other remedies, it is necessary that the patient should take salty foods and half a teaspoon of salt in water every day.

Proper nutrients

Vitamin B along with Vitamin C and protein are very necessary to get blood pressure level to normal. Pantothenic acid is of utmost importance. Liberal use of this vitamin alone frequently helps in raising the blood pressure. A diet which contains sufficient quantities of complete proteins, B vitamin and, mainly, the nutrients that stimulate adrenal production should be consumed regularly in adequate amounts.

Apart from proper food and the above said remedies, the patient must keep away from stress and exhaustion. He/she must exercise regularly. Walking, swimming and cycling are good exercises for low blood pressure patients. The patient must take sun and air baths and pay out as much time as possible in the fresh air.
