Home Remedies for Obesity

Obesity has been defined as a condition when the weight of an individual is 20% more than what it should be as calculated from his/her body mass index (BMI). This occurs due to excessive storage of fat in the body. Fat is important for the body but excessive fat can cause fitness disorders. Obesity can result in Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and cardiovascular diseases.

Symptoms

Although obesity has no particular symptoms, it causes other major health problems like Type 2 Diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, stroke, sleeping and breathing disorders, shortness of breath, snoring etc.

Causes

The most common cause of obesity is over-eating. Excessive in-take of calories over a long period causes obesity. Other causes include genetic or hereditary traits of obesity, metabolic factor, physiological causes and certain medications.

Remedies

There is no other way to cure obesity other than home remedies and workouts. Controlling one eating habits and working out can help one shed those extra pounds of fats stored in the body.

Lime juice and honey

This is the best and easiest of home remedies to cure obesity and to ensure a fit body. One tsp of honey is to be mixed with one glass of lime juice in lukewarm water. One must take this in an empty stomach, every morning for at least a month to see any weight loss.

Trifala

Trifala is one of the best cures for obesity. It is a mixture of amalaki, hartaki and bibbitaki. One must take a tsp of trifala powder; empty stomach daily in the morning, followed by a glass of warm water. This must be done regularly for two months.

Tomato

Tomato is the best vegetable, when it comes to health foods. Two tomatoes for breakfast daily, is an easy way to lose weight. This must be done regularly for two to three months to see any change in weight.

Cabbage

Cabbage is another very effective vegetable for weight loss. A plate of cabbage salad, if consumed daily, helps in reducing weight. Eating cabbage salad as the main course for lunch helps reduce weight by almost 15% in the first month itself.

Apart from following these remedies, one must take care of one’s diet. One must include lots of fruits and vegetables in one’s diet. A basis of Vitamin B 12 is also to be added. Along with it, one must consume lots of water and do a workout of at least 45 minutes daily. One can lose weight and develop a fit body only when one is committed to do so.
