‘Pneumonia’ is the medical term to describe the inflammation of the lungs. It is one of the most severe infectious diseases. It becomes a serious and fatal disease if both the lungs get affected.

Symptoms

Pneumonia generally begins with a cold in the head or throat. The patient normally suffers a chill, shivering fever, obscurity in breathing, and acute pain in the chest. This may be followed by a cough with pink sputum, which may later become brownish. In young age children, the disease may cause fever and convulsions.

Causes

Pneumonia is generally bacterial in nature, caused by a variety of bacteria such as streptococcus, staphylococcus, and pneumococcus. At times, certain viruses are also accountable for this disease.

Remedies

Sesame seed

Sesame seed are a very popular cure for pneumonia. Make a combination of sesame seeds by steeping 15 gm of seeds in 250 ml of water. This infusion, mixed with a tablespoon of linseed, a pinch of common salt, and a dessert-spoon of honey, must be given to the patient. This will help get rid of catarrhal matter and phlegm from the bronchial tubes.

Parsnip juice

The juice of Parsnip leave sand roots is very effective in curing pneumonia. The phosphorus and chlorine elements contained therein are of particular help to the lungs and the bronchial system. However use only cultivated parsnip to treat pneumonia. Never use the wild variety as it may be poisonous at times.

Garlic

Garlic is the cheapest and the most easily available cure of pneumonia. However, it must be given in the right amount to the patient. A paste of garlic must be applied outwardly on the chest it is an irritant and rubefacient and helps in bringing down the temperature, as well as the respiration within forty-eight hours.

Fenugreek seeds

Fenugreek seeds help the body to develop perspiration, dispel toxicity, and shorten the time of fever. A tea made of fenugreek seeds is to be taken four times a day. To develop the flavor of the tea, a few drops of lemon juice may be added. However, no other food must be consumed when this medication is being followed; fasting is compulsory during this fenugreek seed treatment
