The Restless legs syndrome is a medical term which refers to a neurological disorder that origins uneasiness in the legs and irrepressible urges to shift to mitigate the uneasiness which is usually expressed as tingly, itchy, creeping, aching and tugging like insects crawling on body.

The major symptoms of restless legs syndrome comprises irritating sensation in legs, reducing of sensations after changing sitting position or walking, arouse of sensations whenever a person lies down etc.

In the limelight of past studies, it has been confirmed that restless legs syndrome is associated with other severe illnesses such as cardiac and lungs disorders. By implicating the given below home remedies, it is possible for an individual suffering with restless legs syndrome to get immediate relief.

Walking is Good – Inclusion of walking habits in daily routine serves as a natural remedy for various health ailments. Daily walking for at least 30 minutes increases the flow of blood into body allowing sweat glands to exude more toxins from body.  Taking a late night stroll within house assists in maintaining calmness of legs throughout night for better sleep.

Avoid Caffeine – Individuals suffering from restless legs syndrome should avoid excessive consumption of caffeine based foods and beverages like coffee, tea, chocolate, sodas and over-the-counter medications. The consumption of tobacco and alcohol should also be discouraged to attain immediate relief from pain and etching.

Temperature Change – In winters, dipping feet in hot water or wrapping feet with hot towel endows with immediate relief from uneasiness, itching and irritation. In summers, cold towels and ice packs can be used to get instantaneous relief.

Dietary Habits – It is recommended for persons suffering from restless leg syndrome to keep a vigil on their routine diet. The deficiency of essential nutrients and minerals in body are the known contributors to the disease.

Stress – An elevated level of stress or anxiety exacerbates the disease. It is advisable for individuals to perform stress busting exercises or activities such as yoga, meditation, light morning exercises etc. To beat stress and negativity, the best method is to get busy with hobbies or some sort of recreational activities.

Leg Exercises – Avoid intense leg exercises as the strain might aggravate the problem. A routine mild exercise like walking usually leads to unexpected results. However, persons suffering from diseases like asthma should consult a physiotherapist prior to opting for any leg exercises.
