Allergy means the sensitiveness of the body to a substance that normally doesn’t affect other persons. The skin disorders caused due to the surplus use of cosmetics are called skin allergies. The skin act in response to contact with the allergen becomes red and itchy.
Causes of Skin Allergies
There can be several causes to skin allergies as no one knows who may become allergic to what and when. Generally, the commonest cause of skin allergy is change in weather or food style. Various drugs, pollens, dust and smoke, soap and detergents also cause allergies. Skin care methods like electrolysis and other hair removing techniques also cause allergies.
Remedies
Sandalwood paste
Make a paste of pure sandalwood powder and a few drops of lemon. Apply this paste on the affected area. It will give immediate relief because of the cooling effect of sandalwood and the medical care of lime.
Garden mint
Prepare a paste from five grams of garden mint in water. Sieve the water and add 12 grams of sugar to it. Drink this syrup two times a day for fast relief.
Poppy seeds
Crush 1 tablespoon of poppy seeds with 1 teaspoon water and add 1 teaspoon lime juice to it. Apply this paste to the affected part for relief from itching and redness.
Other than these remedies, you could also try applying a paste of almond leaves to cool the affected area. Application of mashed papaya seeds on the affected area decreases itching. One may even try applying a mixture of lemon juice mixed and coconut oil and massage the area with it.
Precautions to be followed
Eat a healthy diet and increase your intake of vitamin C. Never go to bed without removing your make-up. If you have an extra-sensitive skin, avoid using any form of make-up till the allergy is subsided. Use a sunscreen generously, each time you go out in the sun. Most importantly, never use tap water to wash your face. Try and use mineral water. Wash your face as many times as possible with only water and avoid the use of soap on the face. Maintaining these little precautions will help take care of your skin allergies.
