Smoking is one of the commonest habits that teenagers pick up under peer pressure. They do not realize the harmful effects of it until they fall seriously ill. But even at that stage quitting smoking becomes very difficult. Smoking causes numerous deaths in the country due to lung cancer and other diseases. One must try and quit smoking as early as possible.

Ill effects of smoking

Smoking is a terrible addiction and is the major cause of lung cancer. It causes bronchial infection and also causes infection in the larynx. Apart from this, it causes body odour and kidney disorders.

Remedies

Though it is not easy to quit smoking, yet following a few home remedies helps one to recover fast from the effects of nicotine.

Honey

Honey is most helpful when one is trying to quit smoking. Honey is rich in vitamins, proteins, amino acids and various other enzymes that help dealing with cigarette addiction and also helps to come out of the effects of nicotine.

Oranges

Oranges are very effective to cure cigarette addiction. It is acidic in nature and is the first step in quitting smoking. It helps eliminate nicotine from the body. One must take two glasses of orange juice daily to help reduce smoking.

Licorice

Chewing licorice is a safe and easy way to quit smoking. It acts as a substitute for a cigarette and the juice of licorice when sucked soothes the person and helps him relax. Its cleaning properties help it clean the lungs.

Grapes

Grapes are also effective in stopping smoking. They are also acidic in nature and act as good as orange juice in preventing the urge to smoke.

Radish

Mix fresh grated radish with two tsp of honey. Eat a tbsp of this mix twice a day. This helps in stopping curing the addiction of smoking.

Baking soda

Dissolve two tsp of baking soda in a glass of water and drink it daily in the morning. This helps cure the addiction of smoking. But it causes a lot of gas to accumulate in the stomach; so it must be avoided by people who suffer from gas problems.

Apart from following these remedies, one must practice yoga and medication. Regular workouts are also very helpful in reducing the effects of nicotine as it helps flush out the toxin.
