Home Remedy for Cracked Heels

Cracked heels are a continuous embarrassment for anyone. They make one look dirty and callous, no matter how  tidy and careful the person is. There are several causes for cracked heels. It could be because of ill-fitted shoes, continuous exposure to dirt and dust, excessive dry temperature, aging and various diseases like Athlete’s Foot, thyroid, eczema etc. Cracked heels can also be very painful and they may bleed at times.

We care take care of cracked heels by following a few home remedies.

Ripe Banana

Ripe banana is the best remedy for cracked heels. Apply the pulp of a ripe banana to your feet and leave it for fifteen minutes. Wash your feet with lukewarm water. This will make your feet soft and clean instantly.

Lemon Juice

Soaking the affected feet in diluted lemon juice also removes the dry skin and makes the feet soft. This has to be done daily.

Glycerine and Rose Water

Applying a mixture of glycerin and rose water regularly keeps the feet soft and avoids formation of any cracks.

Petroleum Jelly and Lemon Juice

One can use a mixture of any petroleum jelly and lemon juice to the affected area daily. However, this is a time consuming remedy as the mixture needs to be massaged gently on the feet till the mixture is completely absorbed.

Paraffin Wax and Mustard Oil

A mixture of melted paraffin wax and mustard oil is an effective remedy. This mixture must be applied to clean dry feet daily for at least ten days to see the effect.

Scrubbing

Apart from these, regular scrubbing and cleaning of the feet is very necessary to ensure clean soft feet. Scrubbing not only removes the dry and dead skin of the feet but also the dirt and dust that the feet gather through out the day.

Good Diet

Along with taking care of one’s feet, one must ensure that s/he manages to have a complete nutritive diet. One must consume a lot of milk, and food rich in Calcium and Vitamin E. One must also consume food rich in iron and zinc to ensure an overall good and soft skin. Other small precautions like keeping one’s feet dry and clean always, and never to go bare foot anywhere should be taken care of to ensure soft and beautiful feet.
