How to Combat Leg Aches


They are the delicate organs who sustain our body mass, much exploited and over used, who are they? Yes they are legs. How are they to be cared? Read ahead! As our legs have only 30% of body mass, they have to carry the rest of the 70%. They need to be strong and fit.

Legs especially the knee area is delicate. Women have to take more care as they always loose calcium during menses. They also feel the pain around knee or entire legs. Your body, male or female has to have optimum amount of calcium. Opt for natural source of calcium rather than tablets.

Home Remedies for Leg pain:-

Have a small mug of cow’s milk and yoghurt. Also avoid acidic stuff like spicy food. This creates acid that roams around freely creating pain. Wear comfortable foot wear so that your skin, tissues and muscles get breathing space. Do not stuff them for your ornamental looks.

Also use soft paddy with acupressure points within the shoes; this will reduce the pain in the heels. Keep removing dead skins so that they don’t pain when you walk.

Also keep moisturising you feet and sit in different asana like Sukhasana (cross leg), Padmasana (folded feet) or Vajrasana (on the knees). This will increase the blood circulation.

The knees and upper thighs also are not free from pain. Use lukewarm or hot water on it for some time, this too will lead to increased blood circulation and will relieve you. You may also use pure salt crystals or domestic salt while bathing- a pinch of it please.

You may alternately pour hot and cold water on legs, if pain persists. You may also use lemon grass oil or mustard oil with garlic, will help in relieving pain. Heated Mustard oil with camphor also will help in lessening the pain.

If you are overweight please consider losing weight as the pressure increases on the legs. Brisk walking for thirty minutes will make your muscle firmer and stronger. Cycling is another way to increase the movements of knees. Swift marching also helps.

If you are ageing then do not cycle, sleep on the yoga mat and do some sleeping exercising like, single- leg cycling, double- leg cycling or alternate cycle. When you join gym do not carry weights for two to three months and exert your body.

Rather wait and then swiftly move towards body toning rather than weight loosing, you may lose the strength of your muscle. Avoid skipping and jogging especially girls. Your muscles are delicate, increase the strength of your muscle with squats then go for it.

Avoid straining your legs by standing or walking too much. Massage your legs with the above mentioned oils and touch each muscle and vein, so that each cell gets the flow of blood.

Let your legs be upraised on the pillow for an hour or so, this too can increase blood circulation. You may also use clove oil with menthol for a gentle massage.

Avoid laxative if you are using it and if the pain persists, cut down on salts. When walking, if you feel the pain use a knee-cap or an anklet which supports the muscle and avoids bruising it.

If the problem still continues contact a doctor. There are various reasons for leg aches and treatments are offered too, point lies to nip the problem in the bud.
