How to Get Rid of Head Lice

Head Lice
Head lice are wingless insects that parasitize over your scalp. They live in between the hairs and suck blood from the scalp. It is commonly seen in kids between 3 to 12 years of age and is more common in girls. Even if the head lice won’t spread any diseases its presence is an annoyance.
Symptoms of Head Lice
There may be a feeling of tickling in the hair too. The affected person may have itching on the scalp and the scratching results in sores. The sore in turn may leads to infection and sometimes the affected region may swells up and cause pain.
Spreading of Head lice
The head lice spread from one person’s head to another by direct contact. Kids get head lice infestation from close contact with other kids in school, bus etc. Exchanging the scarf, hat, comb, dress etc. of the infected person may leads to the spread of head lice to the other one. Sharing the pillow, bed etc may also cause the spread.
Remedies for Head lice
Avoid contact with the infected person and when you or any of your family members gets infected then wash the clothes, bed sheet, pillow covers etc in hot water. Remove as much as head lice with lice comb and treat your hair and scalp with lice treating medications. Keep your hairs neat and clean as dirt encourage the lice to live in your hairs.
Lemon Juice
Extract juice from freshly cut lemon and mix two tablespoon of lemon juice with one tablespoon garlic paste. This mixture can be then used for applying on the scalp. Keep it on the scalp for half an hour and then wash off with water.
Olive Oil
Take some olive oil and massage it on the scalp just before going to sleep. Cover the scalp with a plastic bag and keep it on the entire night. Next day morning comb your hair with a lice comb and it will get rid of head lice. Repeat this treatment in every 10 days till all the lice are gone.
Neem Leaves
Make a paste with neem leaves and apply it on the scalp and hairs. Keep it for half an hour or till the paste dries up. Then wash it off with water. Continue this process two times in a week. You can also mix basil leaves paste along with neem paste.
